The Royal Oak in Barrington

Friday, April 8th, 2011

I love helping out suppliers I work with and last week I was asked to shoot some new web images for the Royal Oak in Barrington village near Cambridge. The Royal Oak has had a face lift and it was my job to show the new interior and fantastic conservatory. With a new menu and warm welcome, this will be one pub I can’t wait to visit again but next time I’ll leave my camera at the studio.

Lionel Dunning Clinic at Ferndale Livery

Monday, March 28th, 2011

I had an extremely busy weekend and the highlight was the Lionel Dunning show jumping clinic at Ferndale Livery in Coates, Cambridgshire. The clinic took over three hours to get through all six riders but it was great fun if not slightly dangerous with big heavy horses flying past my head!!!

Playing with HDR

Friday, February 18th, 2011

In case you do not know we live in a digital age, people are using digital phography and we are seeing some very interesting techniques being developed. High Dynamic Range is a very powerful and interesting new technological breakthrough which may well have some scope to be used in my future wedding images? Not wanting to start at a wedding, I shot some test images of my car and converted them to HDR.  The first shot is a raw image straight from the camera with only minor adjustments, the second has been converted to HDR and had some obvious photoshop work. The third image in my opinion is taking HDR a little to far, but it still gives an amazing affect.

Happy Valentines Day

Monday, February 14th, 2011

Happy valentines day to all my past and future couples, I hope you have as good a day as I’m planning on having with my fiance Kim. Wedding venue viewing first, then off to the cinema to see ‘Paul’ followed by a romantic meal in a local bistro, perfect…

Funky Horse Photography

Sunday, January 9th, 2011

I’m expanding what the studio offers this year and working on a funky style of horse photography that utilises various techniques from my wedding and lifestyle work. When I discussed the possibilities of this new venture with my girlfriend and horse owner Kim, we realised the first problem could be how a horse will react to various flash techniques. So with a certain amount of intrepidation I stepped in to the livery yard school with Kim’s rather lively horse Marley. We spent the afternoon testing various lighting techniques until I found the one that suited my style and Marleys nature. These are just a few of the test shots that we took, watch this space for further developments.

New Year, new project?

Friday, January 7th, 2011

Happy New Year to you all, I hope everyone had a great time seeing in the New Year?

2011 looks as though it is going to been another great year at the studio with wedding bookings nearly reaching my set limit for the year. I believe in keeping the number of weddings I shoot a year to 25, this way I stay fresh and remain exclusive to my bride and grooms.

I also have a new project in the pipeline which I’m very excited about, it is a totally different direction for my photography, so watch out for updates over the next few weeks.

Merry Christmas
