Sarah & Chris’s Wedding at the Old Bridge Hotel, Huntingdon

Monday, October 3rd, 2011

Saturday was apparently the hottest day in October for over a hundred years and I must say, I felt it. I shouldn’t complain though, as Chris was melting in his traditional kilt and jacket, he did look the part though. Sarah wore a beautiful dress that just shone when the light hit it and complimented Chris in his kilt when I shot them on the banks of the River Ouse.

Audrey and Rees’s wedding at the Duxford Lodge Hotel

Monday, September 19th, 2011

Well Saturdays wedding will be one to remember for a very long time. It was my first wedding at the Duxford Lodge Hotel near Cambridge and what a well run, beautiful hotel it is, perfect for bespoke weddings. Audrey wore a stunning red dress which was complimented by Ree’s red tie and handkerchief. The highlight of the day was the amazing magician that kept the guests entertained whilst enjoying drinks on the lawn.

What a day

Saturday, September 17th, 2011

Todays wedding at Duxford Lodge Hotel will always be one to remember, not only for the fun I had with Audrey and Rees but also for how white I turned when my camera froze and stopped working during the groom shots. Nothing to worry about I hear you say, just use your back up camera. So like a true professional, the back up camera came out of the case, lens changed and shooting continued without anybody even realising there had been a problem. What I didn’t expect was my main lens also seizing ten minutes later!! If this doesn’t highlight why couples should invest in a professional wedding photographer with a full set of back up cameras and lenses, then I don’t know what will. It’s ok getting a family member or friend to capture your big day, but would they have coped with these two major problems, I don’t think so. Anyway, after sorting out my equipment ready to be sent for repair and ordering another camera and lens to give me a back up for next weeks wedding, I have managed to prepare an iconic image from todays wedding. Once I calm down tomorrow, I’ll get a selection of other images posted on the blog.

Victoria & Paul’s wedding at Hinchingbrooke House

Sunday, September 11th, 2011

Hinchingbrooke House is a very popular venue for me and I have to push my imagination at every wedding to give the bride and groom something new. Yesterday, I took Victoria and Paul in to the rose garden for what turned out to be a very romantic shoot at a time when the couple just needed a break from the hustle and bustle of the day.

Hayley & Gary’s wedding at Chilford Hall, Cambridge

Sunday, September 4th, 2011

August seemed to be a month of wet weddings, so it made a change that we didn’t have to dodge the rain for the wedding of Hayley and Gary. Hayley got ready at the fabulous Sturmer Hall with the ceremony and reception taking place at Chilford Hall near Cambridge, a beautiful venue when bathed in sun. Gary has a passion for 60’s music memorabilia and this became a feature through day from the groomsmen shots to the evenings music and first dance, very cool. Hayley wore a beautifully designed Italian dress which was just perfect to photograph and flowed wherever she went.

Nicola & Jonny’s wedding at Sheene Mill

Monday, August 29th, 2011

After a long wedding on Saturday, the thought of rain all day at Nicola and Jonny’s wedding filled me with intrepidation. But I had no need to worry, as apart from a down poor mid afternoon, we were again blessed with some glorious weather. The wedding was held at Sheene Mill near Royston, and was organised to perfection with so many unique surprises through the day.  We were treated to an out door ceremony under a beautiful gazebo baked in sunshine, perfect for the setting on the edge of the river Mel. For me, the highlight of the day was the love and energy that flowed as the guests partied the night away, I got some really fun shots.

Sam & Harry’s wedding at Hinchingbrooke House

Monday, August 29th, 2011

The weekend was kicked off with me covering the wedding of Sam & Harry at St Mary’s church, Hitchin and Hinchingbrooke House, near Huntingdon. The weather men had promised some clear skies mixed with rain, perfect!! the rain came as we were waiting at the church for Sam to arrive and apart from this quick shower, we were blessed with some glorious weather. The highlight of the day for me was the first dance, the best I have photographed in my twenty years of weddings and one I wasn’t expecting. Sam and Harry started off with a nice romantic shuffle, nice and simple, then suddenly the dj appeared to scratch the track, omg I thought, what’s he playing at? The track then went in to some rocking tunes which the couple started to bop to, a fantastic end to my evenings work.
