I spent a great few hours with Kirsty and Ashley when we met for their pre wedding shoot at the studio last week. I always like to hold the pre wedding shoot in an environment that is a total contrast to the wedding venue and so we went down to a local underpass for a bit of an urban feel. Kirsty and Ashley will be getting married at Parklands, Quendon Hall, Essex, a superbly styled wedding venue with beautiful grounds and stylish interiors.
The weather has been very unpredictable lately, but we were lucky on Friday for the pre wedding shoot of Hayley and Gary who will be getting married at Chilford Hall near Cambridge in September. Hayley and Gary are a stylish young couple who were perfect models during the shoot, I’m sure their wedding will be fab and lot’s of fun to be a part of.
When Sophie and Charles arrived at the studio today for their pre wedding shoot, I knew I had my work cut out as I was going to implement my latest brain wave? On the way to the studio, I decided to shoot a number of the images on my iphone, some of which are shown here. I always tell my bride and grooms that their wedding day is about the romance and love they share, the emotion and fun they will have. It’s not about me and my huge case of equipment, it’s not about the grand venue or the church they are being married in, it’s about them and me capturing their dreams. The pre wedding shoot instills this idea in a couple. Most arrive and tell me they hate having their picture taken, but all leave happy knowing they are in good hands. By dispensing with all the fancy camera equipment for certain shots today, I was able to show Sophie and Charles that it’s the love they share that I will capture, everything else like the venue, cake, flowers etc will just fall in to place. Sophie and Charles are getting married at Buckden Towers, followed by a marque reception at their farm in Warboys, I can’t wait.
I like to mix my pre wedding shoots up a bit and hold them in the strangest places. I do this to show the couple that the wedding images are about them, the romance and love they have for each other, that it’s not just about an amazing venue or background. When Alix and Dave (LOL) arrived at the studio and I found that they had parked a few minutes walk away in the village car park, I decided to hold their shoot there. The first thing I saw was two huge concrete tubes, but I just laughed and dismissed the idea I was getting. Anyway the greenery and old building next to the car park proved a perfect setting to demonstrate how easy it is to get great shots of a couple when they are in love.
I shot Jaqcui and Pauls pre wedding shoot at the studio last Friday and even though the sun was shining you could still feel the nip in the air, how I long for the warmer months to arrive. Jacqui and Paul will be getting married in May at Shepreth church with their reception at the beautiful Barrington Hall near Cambridge. Barrington is a great venue to hold a wedding reception at and it will be a real pleasure to be a part of this special day.
The light was dropping and it had just stopped raining when I arrived at Jayne and Alex’s for their pre wedding shoot, so all in all, not a perfect evening for photography. But you are nearly always guaranteed that the sun will shine when working with such a happy fun couple. Jayne and Alex are getting married at Hinchingbrooke House next month and it should prove to be a memorable and fun day, a day I am looking forward to as I love the quality of light we get later in the year.
Today I had a pre wedding appointment at the studio with Jennifer and Casey who will be getting married at Hotel Felix in Cambridge in September. Again the rain decided to show it’s face, but we managed to miss the worst of it and get some great urban shots of the couple.
I have just returned from a great pre wedding shoot with Sarah and Simon who will be getting married at the beautiful Barrington Hall in September. I met the couple in Godmanchester and spent the morning exploring the surrounding countryside and shooting some beautiful images. The weather was glorious which really brought out the richness and colours in the greenery and rivers and Sarah and Simon really got in to the shoot and seemed to relax in minutes getting in to the romantic swing of things. Hopefully they left enjoying the shoot as much as I did and will appreciate the fun shot we did in the graveyard?
Wednesday was a busy day this week as I completed a full album design along with the pre wedding shoot of Katie & Dan. The happy couple looked really excited as we headed out of the studio with the sun blazing down upon us looking for some suitable backdrops around Fenstanton. Katie and Dan will be getting married later in the year at Ramsey church with their reception in Huntingdon.
Wow, what a great shoot I have just had with Victoria and Kieran at the studio. We ventured out into Fenstanton for their pre wedding session not knowing how they would be in front of the camera and I wasn’t disappointed with the results. Victoria and Kieran are a great couple to work with, relaxed, fun and most of all in love. We had a great time and got some stunning images. Not only will their wedding be a day to remember and photograph, but I am already getting excited about the idea of their ‘Cherish the Dress’ shoot.
